The Langenfeld Foundation, based in Hastings, Minnesota, is planning a first-of-its-kind charity trip April 17-28—an African safari for 3 special needs adults.  They will be accompanied by 2 guardians and a professional cameraman.  According to our research, they will be making history; a trip like this has never been attempted before.

The group of 6 adventurers will fly out of Minnesota on April 17, 2007.  They will travel 22 hours, via Amsterdam, before arriving at Johannesburg International Airport in South Africa.  They will enjoy the trip of a lifetime, having 8 days of sightseeing, hiking, wildlife viewing, photography, bird watching, plains game hunting, and dining on Africa's culinary delights.  The entire trip will be filmed by Kurt Rotter, of Rotter Communications, through Illusion Systems, LLC of Rochester, MN.  The World Headquarters of Safari Club International (SCI) has requested copies of the complete video footage.  It will be edited and narrated, then produce into a broadcast-quality program to be aired on their TV show: Expedition Safari.

Mr. Dean Hanson of Kudu Adventures, and Mr. Alex Duvenage of South Africa, have generously donated this trip to the foundation: including 100% of the daily outfitting and guiding fees for the 3 special needs men; plus a 4 animal gift-hunt package for them; also donated is 50% of the daily fees for the 2 guardians and 70% for the cameraman (whose airfare and remaining costs are being funded by Illusion Systems, LLC of Rochester, MN).  The Minnesota SCI  has handsomely donated $2,000 towards airfare. Culver's restaurants have helped us with fund raising.  Minnesota Vikings Coach Bud Grant is supporting us by participating in a celebrity turkey hunt in Missouri; Minnesota Twins All Star and 7 time Gold Glove winner Torii Hunter, Hall of Fame member Paul Molitor, and Ben Utech of the Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts have helped us raise money at auction through autographed items.  The Office for Outreach to Persons with Disabilities, of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has been a great support and source of advice.

The Langenfeld Foundation has run fund raisers to pay for the remaining $8000 in air travel tickets on Northwest Airlines: at the Culver's of HastingsMN SCI and Lake Superior SCI wholeheartedly donated a $1000 booth space and monies from their auctions at their annual fund raising conventions in February and April.  Please support this African safari trip through our fund raisers, or if you'd like to donate cash, Frequent Flier Miles on NW Airlines, or receive our newsletter, please contact: The Langenfeld Foundation, 1911 Eddy Street, Hastings, MN 55033; 651-491-8410; TheLangenfeldFoundation@gmail.com; or www.TheLangenfeldFoundation.org.
